Sally's Jared Takes a Wife

I was contacted recently by Sally, another friend of AFQ who joined us at the Bonnie Hunter workshop this past June, and she shared with me a picture of her completed Jared Takes a Wife quilt top.  It has turned out beautifully, and she has given me permission to post the picture here to share with all of you!

Sally is calling her version "Remember Hawaii", as for her the greens represent foliage, the blues water, and the oranges and rusts represent flowers.  She will be giving this as a gift to her Brother and his wife for their 25th wedding anniversary...they were married in Hawaii!

This turned out so lovely Sally, thank you for sharing with us!

July Program - Twister Quilts

For our July program at the AFQ guild, Holly Dillaway demonstrated how to make a "twister" quilt.  She showed us several "twister" templates from her own personal stash and among them were the June Taylor's TWIST 'N STITCH square, Primitive Gatherings TWISTER TEMPLATE, and the LIL' TWISTER.

A nautical twister quilt that Holly created using 5 inch charm sqaures.

A pumpkin twister "before" cutting with the twister template.

Holly's "cheesecloth" as she describes it.  This is what is left of the pumpkin top after using the twister template to cut new blocks.  Holly kept this together with tiny bits of tape on the back just to share with us!

The pumpkin quilt AFTER cutting and reseewing together with the newly "twisted" blocks.

Holly shows us how to use the template.

Here Holly is showing us a different template that is available for creating twister quilts and how to use it.

Holly was even kind enough to share with everyone a leaflet she created, outlining measurments to create our own blocks in different sizes and several layout ideas including a pumpkin design, a Christmas tree and a traditional diamond shape design.

Thank you for sharing this with us Holly!
